One night only - a special restaurant at the Omagari Fireworks Competition 2026. August 29, 2026 (Saturday), Omagari Fireworks competition venue, Daisen, Akita, Japan. SEE MORE

For your unforgettable night

Fireworks and Dinner.

It will be for one night only, best seats at this competition. Before sunset, between daylight fireworks presentations…then twilight time…this restaurant will be open.

Chefs and creators working as a team to make amazing dishes with local ingredients…at fireworks event…end of summer 2026.

Think of attending a theatre play…all guests will be on that timetable…

This is a big challenge for us to make at the heart of the competition venue…twilight on the riverside…

This project is the result of a massive team effort, born of the crazy idea of fusing these two jam-packed creations into one - a concept that got us all hyped up.

This project - designed to enjoy the long summer nights in a manner reminiscent of a British garden opera - is rapidly taking shape.

4:30 PM — Welcome

Arrival

About a week before the event, we send your invitation by post. Wear the enclosed ticket around your neck, pass through the gate into the Omagari fireworks venue, and we'll be waiting to greet you near your table. There's still light in the sky. Take a breath, and begin with a welcome drink.

5:00 PM — Daylight fireworks & dinner

Daylight fireworks, and a 3‑course dinner with drinks…

Before sunset, between the daylight fireworks, as the sun slips behind the western hills, dinner begins. The season's Akita produce - cooked course by course right there in our on-site kitchen by a team of chefs working across French, Japanese and Asian cuisine - is carried to your table. Each dish arrives with a drink chosen to pair with it.

Night fireworks, and bar time

As darkness falls, the competition fireworks take the sky. Dinner gives way to bar time: glass in hand, watch the fireworks bloom directly before you. Stay in your seat - the show is at its closest, and directly overhead.

While the fireworks are overhead, we dim the light at your table so nothing blocks the view for guests behind you - and our staff stay still.

He left for Tokyo at eighteen, worked as a fashion-design instructor and at apparel-planning firms, then struck out on his own to run a restaurant. The sausages and other charcuterie he developed back then were adopted by a major international supermarket and are still sold today. On marrying, he closed his Tokyo restaurant and returned to his hometown of Takanashi in Daisen City, opening the eatery “Takanashi Shoten.” He is a founder of the Marukogawa Night Market.

Why we made this

I met a man whose life was transformed by his fascination with fireworks. He simply adores them.

This eternal boy had a dream: to savour delicious food with all the trimmings, wondering, “Couldn't we watch some fireworks while we eat?”

About the weather

Whether the restaurant goes ahead follows the Omagari fireworks. The fireworks proceed in light rain. If the competition is postponed due to weather or river conditions, the restaurant is postponed to the same new date, and your same table is held. Your booking carries over automatically.

Our table has no roof and no tent. At a fireworks viewing seat, nothing may block the view of the guests behind you. But that is exactly the proof that this restaurant truly sits at the heart of the venue - nothing overhead, and fireworks pouring across your whole field of view.

In the unlikely event the fireworks go up but the weather makes it impossible to keep dining, we'll prepare your food to take away. If the competition itself is not held at all, we refund your payment in full.

Good to know

What happens if it rains?

The Omagari fireworks go ahead in light rain, and so do we. If the fireworks go up but the weather makes it impossible to keep dining, we'll prepare your food to take away. If the competition is postponed due to weather or river conditions, the restaurant is postponed to the same new date and your same table is held. If the competition is not held at all, we refund your payment in full.

How do I get to the venue?

On the day, the area around the venue is extremely crowded, with hundreds of thousands of visitors. We strongly recommend coming by Shinkansen (about 3.5 hours from Tokyo on the Akita Shinkansen; roughly a 25–30 minute walk from JR Omagari Station). Directions to the meeting point, and parking if you drive, change from year to year with the crowds - we'll send the latest details with your invitation before the event, and you're welcome to ask us anything by LINE or phone. We'll make sure you get here without getting lost.

Is there anything to keep in mind on the day?

The evening is built around the flow of the fireworks and the etiquette of enjoying them. While the night fireworks are up, we dim the light at your table and our staff stay still, so as not to block anyone's view - we can only move between one firework and the next. That's why the order and timing of the dishes follow the fireworks. Two small requests: please arrive during the welcome (from 4:30 PM) and no later than the 5:00 PM start; and please understand that individual requests on the menu or timing often can't be accommodated. It's a rhythm unique to this night, out of respect for the fireworks - please enjoy it with us. (Matters of safety, such as allergies, are arranged in advance.)

Is there a dress code?

There is no dress code. The venue is an open-air riverbank. Evenings get cool with the river breeze, so please bring something to layer. You'll be walking on gravel and grass, so comfortable shoes are recommended.

Can I bring children?

Children are welcome. Elementary-school age and older count as one guest, the same as an adult. Pre-school children who won't be dining aren't counted toward the seats (they may join a table of up to four guests). The fireworks are very loud, so we recommend ear protection for little ones.

Can you accommodate food allergies?

Yes. We ask about allergies in advance, and the chef accommodates each guest individually. If you have a serious allergy, please contact us before booking.

Can I cancel?

We're sorry, but once your booking is complete, we're unable to offer a cancellation or refund for personal reasons - this table is set for this one night alone. If you find you truly can't come, we'd be grateful if you'd let our contact desk know. For weather-related handling (holding your table when postponed, full refund if the competition isn't held), please see Cancellation & Refund.

Some of my party don't drink alcohol. Can they still enjoy it?

Of course. Both the pairings and bar time can be enjoyed entirely non-alcoholic. Fireworks and food are the stars of the night; what's in your glass is tailored to each guest.

Payment and receipts?

You can pay by credit card (via Stripe) or bank transfer. For cards, please check the accepted brands on the payment screen; your receipt can be downloaded from the confirmation email.
To pay by bank transfer, please let us know via Contact. We'll issue an invoice right away and ask for payment within three days.
Receipts and invoices support Japan's qualified-invoice (inbōisu) system, so the evening is well suited to client entertaining and corporate use.
